You are part of an ever changing world around you.  Briel has been experiencing the world through movment from before she can remember. By giving ourselves the opportunity to listen breath is restored and gravity centered.  Briel received her Bacholors degree in Dance/Choreography from Temple University in January, 2011. She is an active member and co-founder of BodyFields Performance Collective, a Philadelphia based performance group. Through their combined perspectives, BodyFields seeks to reveal the quirkiness and amgnificence of life through artistic performanace and to make art accessible to all people. Her movement studies sparked her interest in body energetics which lead her to begin studying Reiki in Febrary, 2008. She continued her studies through to compleate her Master Practioner Certification from the Reiki School and Clinic in Philadelphia, PA in August, 2012. Briel offers sliding scale services (Individual sessions, couples sessions, animal Reiki, Community Reiki and Yoga and Reiki classes) in the Philadelphia area. Katie first started practicing yoga regularly at work, of all places. She quickly grew to love the way that yoga helped her to clear her sometimes overactive mind, making room for increased optimism, compassion, acceptance, and joy. She is a graduate of the Yogawood teacher training program and is grateful to her teachers Beth Filla and Lisa Korchma for their generous and insightful instruction. Katie hopes that her students will gain practice in mindful awareness, living purposefully, and finding increased ease in their minds and bodies by means of an active yoga practice.  When not practicing or teaching yoga, Katie works as a medical editor and can be found cooking, reading, meditating, knitting, or watching Philly sports in her spare time. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband Mike and her three goofball cats.

Maggie McCuiston, Reiki Practitioner
Community Reiki & IET 7:30pm Thursdays

Contact:
maggie.mccuiston@gmail.com

Maggie was introduced to yoga at a young age as a means to develop strength and flexibility in her dance training.  Yoga then followed her to Westminster Choir College where her voice teacher instructed her to attend classes to help with breathing, connectedness, and posture.  Reading more about Native Americans then music brought her to city of brotherly love where she moved in with a yogi and got a degree in Anthropology.  Always searching for more ways to become grounded, Reiki was placed right in front of her when she wasn’t looking.  She knew this had happened for a reason and became a practitioner before ever having Reiki performed on her.  She hopes to share this powerful healing therapy with others and develop her practice.  Maggie continues to sing everyday, compose music, and play with her dachshunds, Dmitri and Wolfgang.

Meghan will never forget the walking-on-clouds feeling after attending her first yoga class in 2003.  Bored by running and the gym and never any good at sports, she first saw yoga as an alternative form of exercise in which she could feel good about her self and progress at her own pace in a non-competitive environment.  However, as she continued to practice, she knew there was something that went beyond the physical.  After spending the next years living between Philly and Mexico, and backpacking almost the entirety of Latin America, in 2008 she discovered Blue Banyan Yoga Studio in the Mt. Airy section.  She soon found herself completing its first Vinyasa Flow 200 hr. teacher training program in December 2009.  For Meghan yoga has been a journey toward greater self-love and a process of radical transformation which involves the peeling-off of masks, armor and layers so the true self can be revealed .  Meghan likes to think of the true self as nothing more than “pure light and love” and is committed to reminding herself that every person at their core is just that.  Her classes are slow and steady, yet call for a challenge, on and off the mat.  They stress connecting breath with movement, proper alignment and attention to detail, serving the needs of the individual, and developing an awareness of the physical, emotional, mental and energetic bodies.  Expect pranayama (breathing techniques), mindful hands-on adjustments, creative sequencing, a playlist heavy on world beats and a safe and welcoming environment.  Meghan’s classes often incorporate wisdom from a variety of spiritual or philosophical traditions and she also likes to design her classes from an Ayurvedic perspective, meaning incorporating postures that aim to put one in balance with the current season or life cycle and connect one with the natural world.  Meghan thinks of this as her motto for life and wishes it upon her students: “this is the key..the inner part of it is silence, and outer part….is celebration, laughter.  Be festive and be silent” (Osho).  Meghan satisfies her soul with weekly live music & dancing, hanging out with her huge family, music festivals & camping, and off the beaten path travel.  She lives in a house in Fairmount that mine as well be a youth hostel, is obsessed with indigenous cultures and ethnic food, speaks Spanish and hopes to live in a tree house in Mexico one day.

Fascinated with the healing benefits of yoga, which guided her to heal her own low-back pain, Michal completed a foundational teacher training at Wake Up Yoga in Philadelphia. She continued learning with a 200 hour training in Therapeutic Yoga at Yoga Re:Source in Montreal and a Yin Yoga teacher training back at Wake Up Yoga.  Michal attempts to meet whatever adventure life throws her way with ease, grace, and humor: whether it be climbing a mountain, learning a language, or waiting for SEPTA.  Through yoga practice (on and off the mat) she is ever gaining strength and flexibility physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  Michal infuses her passion for the intersections of health, education and creativity into all of her teaching, seeking to meet students where they are and go from there.  It is her intention that students feel present in their bodies and empowered in their lives. She is filled with endless gratitude to be able to share the gift of yoga.

A career professional musician and scholar, Rachel Cama began practicing yoga and mediation to enrich her teaching and performing in music.  She is a yoga instructor certified through the Himalayan Institute, a premier center for yoga and holistic living situated in the beautiful Pocono mountains.  After training as a yoga teacher in the Himalayan tradition, Rachel completed a one-year residency as writer on the editorial staff of Yoga International, the Institute’s award-winning magazine.  In addition to her personal practice of hatha yoga and meditation, Rachel looks to the wisdom of the ancient scriptures for inspiration––especially Patangali’s Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita.  She has formally studied both Sanskrit and Ayurveda.  Believing that we all have the ability to heal ourselves, both physically and emotionally, through authentic self-expression, Rachel is particularly interested in yoga as a theraputic modality.  She currently teaches yoga and meditation at several Philadelphia area yoga studios, in the Philadelphia schools through The World Y.O.G.A Project and at Northeast Community Center for Mental Health/Mental Retardation.

Contact:
smnero1@gmail.com
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Stacia-Yoga/219773548084345

Stacia is a graduate of the Dhyana Yoga Teacher Training Program. She fell in love with yoga in 2003, after an ACL and meniscus reconstructive knee surgery. Prior to the knee injury she was an active athlete and dedicated dancer. Without these tools she used to define herself she had to search for something that could make her happy and appreciate the mind-body connection again. Throughout her life Stacia has experienced severe depression and anxiety; therapy and medication never seemed to fully correct the tension inside her. Yoga has been the key to curbing that anxiety and it brings a natural tranquility to her life. She wants to pass that same calmness on to others.  She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ in 2005 and soon after became a student at Temple University. She is still pursuing her academic endeavors as well as professional career opportunities. In addition, she wants to spread the ancient yoga practices and holistic modalities to an ever-increasing technologically advanced western world. She wants everyone to be comfortable in their own skin, and to let their freak flag fly. She will bring a creative energy to the classroom, allowing you to play with the positions and make the practice personal to you.  “May people everywhere be happy and free” – Namastacia
